Flames Spotlight Athlete: Maria Perez

Maria Perez is our Flames Spotlight Athlete for her recent play on the softball field. The freshman from Hesperia, Calif., batted .600 (15 for 25) with nine RBIs during the week of March 31-April 6. In the second game of a doubleheader sweep over Briar Cliff University on April 5, she went 5 for 5 with six RBIs, including a go-ahead, three-run homer in the fifth inning, her first career round-tripper. She finished that doubleheader 7 for 9 with eight RBIs. CSM won the games 6-4 and 14-11.
