Kevin White was named the new full-time Sports Information Director on Sept. 3, 2024.
White comes to CSM with more than 30 years of experience in athletics, mostly as a sportswriter with the Omaha World-Herald and Council Bluffs Daily Nonpareil. His primary beat for the newspapers was high school athletics in western Iowa, where he earned numerous writing awards.
In addition to covering hundreds of state-level high school sporting events, White also staffed the College World Series, the NCAA basketball tournament, the NCAA volleyball tournament and the Drake Relays, along with many Iowa, Iowa State and Nebraska football games and a variety of Iowa Western Community College athletics. In 1996, he spent three weeks in Atlanta covering the Summer Olympics after being selected to the Thomson Newspapers Olympics Bureau.
White joined the staff at St. Albert Catholic Schools in Council Bluffs in 2019. He served two years as the advancement director, leading a Gift Initiative during COVID-19 that generated more than $1.1 million for the school. He also served two years as its communications director.
He became the first sports director at Bluffs Country radio station in Council Bluffs in August of 2023, broadcasting a variety of high school sporting events.
White is a graduate of the now-defunct Dana College in Blair, Neb., where he participated in three sports in the former Nebraska-Iowa Athletic Conference, now the Great Plains Athletic Conference. He was a 1,000-point scorer in basketball along with a conference doubles champion in tennis and a one-year participant in baseball for the Vikings.
White is a native of Minden, Iowa, and a graduate of Tri-Center High School. White and his wife, Tina Preuss, live in Council Bluffs. They have four children: Bailey, Carter, Peter and Eliza. Bailey is a 2023 CSM alum who played four years of basketball for the Flames and currently is pursuing a doctorate degree in physical therapy at Des Moines University.
