Concordia upends Flames dancers in opener
SEWARD, Neb. – The College of Saint Mary dance team began its 2025 competition season on Saturday with a dual against the Concordia University squad, with the Bulldogs defeating the Flames 80.9 to 72.7.
Despite the setback, freshman Grace Denning said the opening competition was a great experience, and she's excited for what's to come.
"I was really nervous to perform for my first collegiate dance competition, but it went way better than I expected!'' Denning said. "We have a great team this year.''
Competing for the Flames on Saturday under the direction of coach April Allen were juniors Hannah Elliott and Zoey McFarling, sophomores Evelyn Andrade and Elizabeth Kenny, and freshmen Denning, Delainey Benedict and Haley Engleman.
The next home appearance for the Flames dancers will be Wednesday at halftime of the basketball game with Concordia. Their next competition will be Jan. 26 in Des Moines at Grand View University.
