Flames finish 12th in opening weekend tournament

ROCKFORD, Ill. – College of Saint Mary Bowling Coach Corrinne Johnson is excited about the experience her squad got in its opening tournament of the season. The Flames took 12th place at the Hammer Golden Eagle Invite.

CSM finished with a team score of 6,228 after Sunday's Baker games.

The Flames rolled games of 174, 184, 174, 134, 139, 138, 118, 173, 129, 130, 120, 128, 121, 128, 112 and 184.

"Our first block of Bakers was the best of the day," Johnson said. "We struggled on the next pair of lanes for the second block. I decided that since we weren't going to make bracket play that we would rotate in the new bowlers into the last two blocks to help give them some tournament experience. I told the team to finish strong on the last game and they answered with a 184.

"I'm proud of how they bowled and worked as a team this weekend. I'm excited to see how they grow throughout the season."

The Flames return to action Oct. 12-13 in the MIBC Tournament in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
