Flames sitting in 7th after good day on the lanes
COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa – The College of Saint Mary bowling team didn't have to travel very far to compete this weekend. The Flames bowled in the Mid-Iowa Bowling Conference II tournament at Bowlero in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
"Today was a good day on the lanes," CSM Coach Corrinne Johnson said. "We met goals, made new personal bests and, most of all, we had fun."
The Flames are currently in seventh place after the opening day of the two-day event. CSM had a pin total of 3,351 after the five individual games (679, 690, 654, 674, 654).
Coe College leads the way with 4,399, while Wartburg College is in second with 4,059 and Iowa Central Community College sits in third with 3,984.
Hannah O'Neal led the way for the Flames with 788 (154, 182, 167, 138, 147). Teammates Jennica Soar and Kaitlyn Dickmeyer also rolled scores over 700 as Soar finished with 721 (166, 120, 142, 159, 134) and Dickmeyer had 707 (136, 155, 136, 154, 126). Amariyah Moreno and Kim Aguayo also competed for CSM.
"Amariyah bowled her new personal best – rolling a 159 in the last game of the day," Johnson said. "I made a team goal for the day that they had to bowl at 600 or better each game and they accomplished that.
"We are sitting in seventh place going into tomorrow's Baker games. We will continue adding pins and see if we can make a move up the ladder."
