Five CSM soccer players honored by OWH
OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha World Herald has released it's All-Midlands soccer teams and College of Saint Mary has landed five student-athletes on the list.
CSM goalkeeper Alivia Schade was named to the OWH Women's First Team. Teammates Abbie Anderson, Jimena Estrada Gomez, Kaylie Ratzlaff and Marissa Ring were selected as honorable mention.
There was no shortage of scorers on the women's squad. Six players had double-digit goals.
GPAC regular-season champ Hastings featured Naomi Pedroza, who was a potent scorer at juco powerhouse Northeast in Norfolk before joining the Broncos. She had 15 goals for a team that went 163-3 while honorary captain Dekota Schubert had 12 goals and 13 assists. That gave Schubert a program-record 38 assists for her career.
Concordia's Kierstynn Garner scored 19 goals and teammate Grace Soenksen was named the GPAC Defensive Player of the Year in helping the 13-4-3 Bulldogs record eight shutouts.
Hannah Schimmer scored 16 goals for 13-5-3 Midland while Bellevue's Ximena Jauregui finished with 11 goals and 11 assists, garnering Continental Athletic Conference player of the year honors. Teammate Emma Madej also scored 11 goals.
In goal, College of Saint Mary keeper Alivia Schade from Kearney made 96 saves, allowing 1.23 goals in 18 matches.
