CSM soccer ties Tabor 1-1

HILLSBORO, Kan. – College of Saint Mary Soccer Coach Jamison Parkhill was happy with the progress he saw from his team Friday afternoon. The Flames played to a 1-1 tie with Tabor College in the nonconference road contest.

"We played much better than we did against Jamestown last weekend," Parkhill said. "We created more chances and we played well as a team. Now we just need to finish them off."

The Flames got on the scoreboard first when Aubrey Vancura scored an unassisted goal at 12:57. CSM entered the intermission with the 1-0 lead.

The Bluejays tied the game at 49:54 when Tabor's Jami Dooley scored off an assist from teammate Haven Deckinger.

Neither team was able to score the rest of the way resulting in the stalemate.

Tabor outshot CSM 14-10 in the contest. College of Saint Mary goalkeeper Alivia Schade had three saves in net. Tabor's Neve Mulrooney had one save.

CSM is now 0-1-1 on the season and returns to action Saturday on the road trip. The Flames face Park University at 6 p.m. in Parkville, Mo.

"We still have things we need to clean up, but we saw a much better effort today," Parkhill said. "We are looking forward to the challenge of Park tomorrow."
