CSM soccer battles to a 0-0 tie vs. Park

PARKVILLE, Mo. – The College of Saint Mary soccer team battled a tough Park University opponent and the heat Saturday in the second game of the Flames' road trip.

CSM played to a 0-0 tie with Park in the nonconference contest.

"I'm very proud of the way the ladies worked today," CSM Coach Jamison Parkhill said. "After only 24 hours since playing Tabor (College), the ladies showed resilience and fought the entire game. We are much improved after only six days from our Jamestown game."

The Flames are now 0-1-2 on the season with the second straight tie.

Park outshot the visitors 21-6 in the contest, but CSM goalkeeper Alivia Schade had eight saves to post the shutout.

"It was our first clean sheet of the season," Parkhill said. "Credit goes to our backline of Abby Ostergaard, Aubrey Vancura, Aubrey Sharp, Jessica Slater, Elisa Franke, Vanessa Duncan, Lesli Donis and Alivia Schade. Our midfield was huge today and a reason we were able to hold them to a zero on the scoreboard."

The Flames return to action Wednesday with a 7:30 p.m. contest at Bellevue University.
