LAMONI, Iowa – The College of Saint Mary soccer team couldn't capitalize on any scoring chances Saturday in a 1-0 loss to Graceland University.
"We could not find our finishing touch," CSM Coach Jamison Parkhill said. "We had opportunities to find the net but either passed it or lost the ball in key moments. We need to be more creative, dynamic and fearless when we get in and around the 18 to finish those chances."
Graceland scored the lone goal of the game at 5:29 when Cassidy Andrews netted an unassisted goal.
The home team outshot CSM 10-5 in the contest. Flames' goalkeeper Alivia Schade tallied seven saves in net.
"Today was a tough one as we felt we could have done better to get a result," Parkhill said. "Our 10-day layoff might have been a factor because it took us awhile to find ourselves in the match.
"The standout today was Abbie Anderson. She was all over the field. She has been a big part of our team and even though she doesn't show in the stats she does all the dirty work for us."
The Flames fall to 0-3-2 and resume play Wednesday with a 3 p.m. home contest vs. Bethany College.
