Flames swimmers go 1-1 in double dual

LIBERTY, Mo. –  The College of Saint Mary swim team on Thursday earned a split in its double dual against a pair of NCAA Division II programs.

The Flames handled Maryville (Mo.) 110-69, but lost to a powerful host William Jewell squad, 162-38.

"It was a fantastic showing by the team, swimming short-course meters against these two D-II rivals,'' CSM Coach Liz Germonprez said.

CSM turned in three runner-up finishes and three third-place efforts among the 11 events that were contested.

The Flames' runner-up finishes came from Kylee Brown in the 50 freestyle (29.62) and 400 freestyle (4:53.54), and Jaidyn Vanschoiack in the 200 backstroke (2:39.49).

Thirds went to Addison Miller in the 800 freestyle (10:58.58), Chloe Hale in the 200 backstroke (2:40.65) and the 200 medley relay team of Mia Gauvin, Brown, Hale and Vanschoiack (2:15.20).

"The Flames once again showed great sportsmanship and support of each other on the road, and came ready to race,'' Germonprez said.

CSM returns to action Oct. 12 in Leavenworth, Kan., at the Spire Relays hosted by the University of Saint Mary.
