Flames swimmers sweep Simpson Duals
INDIANOLA, Iowa – College of Saint Mary swimmers won five of 13 events and swept all three duals during a highly successful Saturday at the Simpson College Duals.
The Flames beat Iowa Western Community College 174-21, handled Simpson 149-71 and downed Midland University 122-103 to bring home team championship honors.
"It was a fantastic final meet to end our regular season,'' CSM Coach Liz Germonprez said. "The swimmers were having a lot of fun in a very competitive meet.''
CSM won four individual events on the day: Isabella Promes captured the 200 freestyle (2:12.50), Jaidyn Vanschoiack grabbed the 100 backstroke (1:06.10), Kylee Brown took the 100 freestyle (56.14) and Chloe Hale reigned in the 200 backstroke (2:21.93).
The final victory of the day for the Flames came in the 200 freestyle relay, where Brown, Vanschoiack, Hannah Steinmetz and Promes combined forces to win in 1:48.26.
"We had some very solid swims as we begin rest and taper for the KCAC Championships in three weeks,'' Germonprez said.
