Brown breaks school record twice in 11th-place finish
ELKHART, Ind. – College of Saint Mary sophomore Kylee Brown set two school records on her first day of competition of the NAIA Swimming and Diving Championships at the Elkhart Aquatics Center.
In the 500 freestyle on Thursday morning, Brown broke the school record with a time of 5:11.97. That qualified her for the Consolation Final later in the day and earned her Honorable Mention All-America honors.
In the Consolation Final, Brown smashed her short-lived school record by nearly two seconds, finishing in 5:10.13 to place third in the race and 11th overall.
"Kylee had the best day you can hope for, competing at a national meet!'' CSM Coach Liz Germonprez said. "At this high level, she dialed in and came to race. Personal-best swims, school records, finals -- this is what nationals is all about!"
