Buck signs with CSM volleyball program

OMAHA, Neb. – College of Saint Mary is thrilled to announce the signing of Kennedy Buck, who will join the school's volleyball program in the 2025-26 academic year.

The daughter of Trent Buck and Karyn Sommers-Buck, she is a 2024 graduate of Prophetstown (Ill.) High School. Buck spent the last year at Rock Valley College in Rockford, Ill., where she was a starting setter on the volleyball team.

"I am so excited to have Kennedy in our program,'' CSM Coach Rick Pruett said. "She will be joining us with three years of eligibility remaining. Kennedy is a fierce competitor and highly skilled setter. She is athletic and is a great decision-maker on the court.''

The 5-foot-7 Buck was a multi-sport standout in high school, competing in basketball, volleyball and track and field for four years, and softball for one year.

In volleyball, she was a three-time, first-team all-conference performer who set a program record with 757 assists in her senior year. She was the team offensive MVP as a sophomore and the overall team MVP as a junior and senior.

In track and field, she was a state qualifier in the 200, 400 and shot put, placing second in the state in the shot put in the outdoor state meet. As a point guard in basketball, Buck was an all-conference selection and the team MVP.

Buck's sports hero is former Nebraska volleyball All-American libero Lexi Rodriguez.

"I only grew up 25 minutes from her and was able to watch her in high school,'' she said. "Getting to see her grow was amazing!''

Buck enjoys shopping, trying new restaurants, spending time with family and friends, and going out on the river. She said there are several reasons why she chose CSM.

"CSM was my college choice because of the consistent winning culture that Coach Pruett has built within the volleyball program,'' she said. "The welcoming atmosphere that Coach Pruett and the girls showed me on my visit was great as well. Omaha is just a great place to be, with so many opportunities, and I can't wait to get on campus to start competing!''
